I’ve been meaning to pack my bags for the past 2 hours for this week long trip with family and friends but I cannot help but gush (and blog) about my latest spend vs. save find:

YES…we’re in my bathroom

Once upon a time, I had long (ok ok in the photo below, mid length) hair. Long, silky soft, brown hair:

In a friend’s house party. June 2006.

I have always been so frustrated how heavy my hair is such that it takes me a LOT of volumizing products just to give it a lift that will last me at least half day. Can you imagine how much damage it gets from all the product build up and styling? :( My frustration in turn requires me to head to the salon every other week to get deep repair and conditioning treatments. My favorite back then is the uber popular and highly acclaimed KERASTASE MASQUE OLÉO-RELAX. I love how it can actually seep through my thick strands in an hour’s sitting (washing and cool blow drying time included). What I absolutely hate about it is that it costs me a fortune to get my hair done! >:(

Fast forward 5 months later, the Beautynomist makes a spanking discovery! And yes, you can say that I ran to the nearest drugstore and got myself a tub! :P I must have consumed about 5 tubs from November last year til early February of this year when I decided to cut my hair short. Really short.

Sporting short hair does give you a license to not give your hair TLC. In fact, I think my hair requires more lurve when it’s short rather than the opposite. I used the Sunsilk Damage Repair Intensive Conditioner still under this circumstance although I felt it was too heavy for my short hair. This lead me to go back to Kerastase but to a different treatment called KERASTASE CRÈME RICHESSE. Save for the difficulty of pronouncing the last word, it was my perfect cup of tea last summer since I’ve been seen in my bikinis every two weeks. ;) It’s light in texture but definitely gives enough moisture and sun protection.

A couple of months ago, Unilever whips out another hair treatment that once again, I gave in an road tested. It’s simply called Cream Silk Precision Repair Treatment. The product is designed to be a weekly therapy for damaged hair. I’ve always had mixed feelings about Cream Silk as their conditioners are really light, correct? I gave this one a chance since it might just do the heavy moisturizing trick with a light after feeling.

OMG. Yes, it did the “heavy moisturizing trick with a light after feeling.”

After a long grueling story telling, may I indulge you in photos of my favorite “save” hair treatments? ;)

My fave DIY hair treatments sold for about 250 each!

The Cream Silk treatment’s lighter in consistency even in the tub
(too bad I wasn’t able to capture it!)
