…was absolutely FUN! :) I woke up last Thursday morning to this wonderful invite from Ms. A of Rustan’s to join them in the afternoon for some playtime with Laura Mercier’s National Make-up Artist, Gemma Chambers at East Café in Rustan’s Makati.

For the uninitiated, Laura Mercier is popular for her flawless face technique such that she’s got tons of wonderful brushes designed to achieve such look. Here’re some of the brushes I got to play with:

To kick things off, the guests were asked to fill up an info card where the MAs have also logged in our foundation and concealer shades. We were handed a double sided sponge (other side is wool) with some primer, concealer, and foundation.

In one of the forums I frequent, a few members have mentioned that their brushes had molds after deep cleansing (as in shampooing and rinsing). The thought of it alone is disturbing as I am very much of a neat freak esp. wiv my makeup and my tools. Since I’ve never had a molds case ever in my book, let me share how I clean my brushes and keep them mold free. It just might be of help. ;)

Out of the three tutorials I posted in my personal site last year, I believe this is the one that has garnered the most views and comments. I think it’s because of my beautiful friend Shazen’s comment… ;)

Just g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!!!

I hope you’ll enjoy this tut as much as I enjoyed creating it! :)
Tools of Trade:

VERY IMPORTANT

Do your makeup BEFORE putting those falsies on. Oh and yes, I did exaggerate the lower lash work for drama! ;)
Step 1: Curl + apply mascara

Step 2: Cut and re-shape your falsies

I got lucky on this pair that I didn’t need to cut it. To re-shape (this makes the application easier), dot a bit of glue on both ends and hold it up your fingers like the one on the photo for a minute.

Step 3: Apply adhesive

Apply a thin line of adhesive and wait for it to be a bit tacky since it won’t stick properly if it’s still fresh/wet.

NOTE: I was a bit lazy to clean up the falsies before doing this tut. The glue in between the lashes’re there since I bought it. This is the drawback when you buy those cheap China ones. :(
Step 4: Use those tweezers!

I usually use 2 tweezers where I hold the falsies on both ends but I feel like challenging myself a bit today and held it using just one. :p

Step 5: Look down at the mirror

Doing this will straighten up your lid and you’ll see EVERYTHING too!

Step 6: Apply and press

Go from the outside all the way inside the lid area. I pressed the falsies to set in place with the other end of the tweezers.

And VIOLA! You’re done!!! :)

Just because am really determined to prove that BE’s Well Rested is my Photoshop in a pot, here goes a short tutorial on how I use WR. :)

Oh and yes, I DID use Photoshop on the photos below but its use was only limited to image cropping and putting the before and after pics together. It’s totally pointless to perfect make-up application if you’re gonna use Photoshop to edit, right? ;)

Tools of Trade:

BE Well Rested
Taklon Concealer Brush

Step 1: Prep your face and eye area

It’s your call if you want to moisturize or use a primer. I used BE’s Prime Time on my face and Olay TE on my eye area.

Step 2: Apply your foundation

I used Bare Escentuals Medium + Tan.

Step 3: Spritz up

That’s pretty mandatory for me since I want to make my foundation last the whole day.

Step 4: Buff in some finishing powder

I used Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil.

Step 5: Get some Well-Rested

This is how much I use for one eye. This is good enough for the whole eye area. Don’t forget to swirl and tap!

Step 6: Apply WR on the eye area

I personally pat in the color first and then VERY gently swipe everything after to smoothen and perfect.

Step 7: Check for patches

See that area between the side of my (barely there) nose bridge and eye corner? Don’t forget to put some WR on that area too! ;)

All done!

I look pretty well-rested huh? :) If you must, add another layer of finishing powder.

Per request, I made a tutorial on one of the looks I sported from the B&M events. Hope you like it! :)

Tools of Trade aka. what I used for this tutorial:

Step 1: Prime your eyes/face

I actually did not for today’s look since it’s too cold for a melt down or creasing ;p Although for the B&M event itself, I used ARTDECO Eye Shadow Base.

Step 2: Apply your usual face stuff

This is me after BE mineral veil -spritz- BE foundation -spritz- Well Rested (wooohooo my fave product of the moment).

Step 3: Apply crease color

I applied BE Glimmer in TAN LINES in a buffing motion. TAN LINES I believe is a perfect shade that’s crossed between bronze and copper. ;)

Step 4: Apply highlight

I used BE Glimmer in NUDE BEACH using a shader brush in a patting motion.

Step 5: BLEND, BLEND, BLEND

For this EOTD, I didn’t do the usual wiper motion. I buffed where the colors met.

Step 6: Eye line those peepers

I mixed a pinch of BE Glimmer in ENCHANTING with 2 drops of BE Liner Sealer and applied it with the slanted brush.

Ignore the dot on my lid…my cam’s not in very good shape anymore… :(

Step 7: Fix those brows and lashes

I can’t find my brow gel so the result’s a bit messy… :p

All done!

My B&M Day EOTD…part 2 ;)
