Product: shu uemura Matte Loose Face Powder

What it is: “Loose powder that gives a soft-focus effect and leaves the skin shine-free for a naturally beautiful matte finish. The combination of three core powders create a non-dry feeling for comfortable, long-lasting effects.”

Wallet Damage: $39 at shuuemura-usa.com, Php2350 at Rustan’s Makati (where I got mine)

I think I just found the cleanest (by this I mean something that will make me look oh so polished yet still natural) and longest lasting loose powder for ladies with very oily skin. *bats eyelashes* I’ve tried this powder a couple of years ago when I was still a 7YR Medium Light. I didn’t like it back then because it dried my face like crazy. It gave me rough patches here and there couple of hours after application. Needless to say, I ditched the powder after about a week’s use. Fast forward to the previous payday, I stopped by the shu uemura boutique at the Power Plant and gave it another try because I feel that my skin’s been greasier than ever.

I pressed the loose powder with a puff on my face and brushed off the excess (exactly how you’re supposed to apply non-mineral finishing powder). The result? True love. I got rid of the nasty shine on my face with this ultra fine loose powder. I didn’t buy it the same day because I wanted to see how the color will develop on my acidic skin the whole day plus if I’ll get irritations.

actual color is lighter and tad peachier

24 hours after, I was dying to get my butt to Rustan’s Makati. I dragged my mom with me and asked her to try it too because she’s got an oily T-zone as well. I asked (the beauty consultant) Riza to grab a pot for myself and swatch my mom as well. She’s highly impressed as well and told me to ring it (at the counter) ASAP. :)

How long does it last in our tropical climate? I commute every day from my home in the south to an air conditioned office in Pasig City. I apply this over serum, day cream (with SPF 15), BB cream (with SPF 10), and concealer at 5am and I’m still shine free at 7pm amidst stress-smooshing my face every hour or so. Last night, I went out with man friend (jump over his blog to win tickets to Alliance Trance!) and the usual suspects. I applied my makeup at 5am and when I raved about the powder past midnight, I’ve only blot once throughout the day.

Hi there Swiper!

What BB creams have you tried, and what BB cream are you currently using?

Thanks!

I have the purple/lavender one, it really brightens the face. Have you tried that one out?

@shasta
I’ve tried the ones from Skin Food (Aloe and Mushroom), Missha, and L’egere. I like the last one the most but I’m stuck with Skin Food Aloe Sun BB Cream SPF 20 #1 right now. :]

@Joyce
Confession: I just bought one before I saw your comment! :lol: I plan to use it on really stressful days when I need a color corrector.

Hi there! :)
I’ve been visiting your site (love your posts!) for a few months now but this is my first time to leave a comment. ;) Does this powder have a colorless version available in Manila? I don’t wear much make-up because I have very oily yet sensitive skin.

Hello Anne! I think this one’s better than MAC blot. It’s finer and wayyy smoother!
