Product Spotlight: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Color in GLAZED SAND | SwipeSomeGloss

Good Saturday afternoon mi lurves! I just finished doing my nails for this family gathering tonight in celebration of my lola’s birthday. It’s just a small family affair at her house but as the only girl in my dad’s side of the family, I have both the responsibility and the right to look (extra) pretty. ;-) My lola hates it when my hair’s all over my face (which reminds me I need to get my bangs trimmed before we go to their house) and my nails’re unkempt or topped with dark polish.

Sigh. I just removed my plum polish (sniff, sniff) and switched to this next to nothing frosty shade from Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails line called GLAZED SAND:

Under the Sun

True to its name, it does look just like a glazing of fine sand. While am not a big fan of light nail colors, I love how low maint the color and finish (minor imperfections friendly!) is. It’s work place appropriate too meaning I need not remove my polish come Sunday night unlike my fave hot pink creme polish from The Face Shop. It’s also playtime with Nobi and Kira* later so I can’t really put on anything that I’d have to check every five minutes.

Under the Shade

Consistency wise, it’s thinner versus my new HG nail polish. A thin formula like this dries faster, is naturally buildable, and almost shaky hand proof (don’t you just hate it when you’ve perfected the polish on one hand and the other’s all whacked up?). The downside might include higher chipping rate (I’ll update you when the chipping starts) and higher product consumption (since you’ll use at least 3 layers for a translucent finish). Its brush head is also longer and thinner than Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear’s:

Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear vs. Hard As Nails

I think this quality is both good and bad because the user has more control of the product application. A thin brush is rather helpful to those who have small nails who needs to get the sides swiped without getting the skin polished up as well. Nail art pros might also like this because they can brush up on their magic straight from the bottle. The only con I can think of would be longer mani/pedi time (but hey! We can’t rush perfection, right?).

So will I get another bottle? Yes. I’ll probably get another frost shade for those days where I need to primp my nails even with my eyes closed. ;)

*Nobi and Kira chasing my feet:

Kira’s a bit of a diva who wants her own mug so:

Kira going for the (dory fish) kill!
