…was absolutely FUN!
I woke up last Thursday morning to this wonderful invite from Ms. A of Rustan’s to join them in the afternoon for some playtime with Laura Mercier’s National Make-up Artist, Gemma Chambers at East CafĂ© in Rustan’s Makati.
For the uninitiated, Laura Mercier is popular for her flawless face technique such that she’s got tons of wonderful brushes designed to achieve such look. Here’re some of the brushes I got to play with:

To kick things off, the guests were asked to fill up an info card where the MAs have also logged in our foundation and concealer shades. We were handed a double sided sponge (other side is wool) with some primer, concealer, and foundation.

Secret Concealer #3, Foundation Primer Oil-Free, and Bamboo Beige Silk Creme Foundation
On with the application (the Laura Mercier way), we were asked to smooth some primer on our faces. The primer set really smooth and comfortable. I quickly jotted it down on my “to buy” list.

Step two was liquid foundation application. I believe the last time I slicked liquid foundation on was about 2 years ago. I ditched my MAC Studio Fix Liquid when I met Bare Escentuals.
It felt strange to slick on some color using a slightly damp sponge because I’ve always preferred using a MAC 190 brush over the earlier mentioned applicator. The Silk Creme Foundation set pretty good though where one layer’s enough to even out my (ugh) very uneven skin tone. *putting on “to buy” list*

Step three: Secret Concealer application
I found this step pretty breezy because we’re asked to use a synthetic brush. The Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage Brush head is shorter and slightly stiffer than MAC 194 but worked perfectly with her concealer that’s just damn good. Upon application, I just don’t get it! Why haven’t we (me and the concealer) met until last Thursday???
Step four was setting time. We applied the Loose Setting Powder by gently pressing and rolling a powdered velour puff on our skin. It didn’t look chalky, felt very comfortable, and didn’t set on my fine lines. I smell an HG finishing powder!
Step five was the fun part! It’s time to get cheeky! I tried on LM’s Mineral Cheek Powder in CORAL. The cam-photo below doesn’t do justice on how pretty this color is on tanned ladies like me. It’s so fresh, clean, and oh so pretty!

Trust me: it’s too good not to get!
*le sigh* I wish I took a photo of myself after the application for you gals to see the clean face I did! Anyhoo, I had to run without doing my eyes so I just walked up to Gemma while she’s fixing the model’s eyebrows.

Gemma going at it!
I asked her for her fave face brightening technique that busy girls like me should master. Her answer: “fix your eyebrows and tightline your (inner and) upper lashes before stepping out of the house!”
