Good morning mi lurves! My body is still soooo sore from my hiking trip! Did I even mention that I bruised my a** on the way down?
I did and my left butt is still black and blue!
I have a handful of reviews for you gals that I *hope* I can manage to blog about in the next few days!
Let me start with another MMU from a household make-up label, Revlon:

Product: Revlon Colorstay Mineral Foundation
What It Is: “Loose powder foundation that combines pure, lightweight minerals that are good for your skin and ColorStay® longwear technology that lasts for up to 16 hours. This medium coverage foundation provides a color that won’t fade all day making your skin look both healthy and flawless, no matter how long your day is. Makeup is oil-free, fragrance free and non-irritating. Source.
Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide (0.9%), Talc, Silica, Nylon 12, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Perfluorononyl Octyldodecyl Glycol, Grapeseedate, Polyethylene, Mother of Pearl, Topaz, Quartz, Serica (Silk), Cymbidium Grandiflorum Flower Extract, Lactobacillus/Eriodictyon Californicum Ferment Extract, Lilium Candidum Bulb Extract, Malva Sylvestris Extract (Mallow), Dimethiconol, Dimethicone/Silsesquioxane Copolymer, Copolymer, Triethoxycaprylysilane, Lecithin, Alumina, Lauroyl Lysine, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Mica, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163) Source.
Wallet Damage: PhP 900+
The Swiper’s Verdict: D
I had high hopes when I saw the ad in our local Marie Claire (April 2008) simply because I love every single Revlon Colorstay product (their lippies and MAC’s have an equal space in my heart). I went to SM Megamall first thing yesterday to check on it and I was extremely disappointed!
Let me run you down with the pros and conssss:
PROS:
- It’s only PhP 900+. If you’ve been buying other brands of MMU, this is very cheap for something that’s 9.9g.
- Prettier and sleeker packaging vs. L’Oreal Paris’ Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup:

CONS:
- Useless brush
It’s too stiff (L’Oreal’s better in this aspect) and too small for buffing (the formula’s too light for you to just “swipe”). - 16 hours staying power? No retouching? You’ve got to be kidding me!
Zero coverage after three hours inside an air conditioned room. Note that my skin isn’t that oily these days (thanks to another product I’m reviewing soon) - Product content
See the red items above. Parabens in mineral make-up just doesn’t make sense!

I’m iffy about mmu from mainstream traditional makeup brands :s
[…] out my friend Phoebe’s review of Revlon Colorstay Mineral Makeup. I know that Colorstay has made some waves last year with its liquid foundation that promised […]
i’ve never seen “mineral makeup” with so many ingredients ha! has bismuth too.
I haven’t checked these out, but for me. . the mainstream MMU all have a very limited color range. I’m pale and I haven’t found one yet that comes close to matching my skin color. I’m sure people on the other end of the color palette are having the same issues.
that’s sad
i love revlon’s liquid foundation (new complexion variant). i’ve tried 3 brands of mineral makeup and it didn’t measure up to revlon’s coverage and staying power. i was so disappointed. if felt like an ordinary face powder and it didn’t even minimize the appearance of my pores.
can you pls. recommend an mmu brand that gives the same coverage, staying power and flawless appearance that liquid foundies can offer?
Thanks for your great review. I expected this in-store brand would suck. Too much *junk* in it anyways.
wow so many ingredients in a mmu!! ugh n bismuth!? forget it ill stick to buying online from aromaleigh.
